This summer, Yuvraj Singh and Chris Gayle may play for a Melbourne-based community cricket club. Malin Pullenayegam, the president of Mulgrave Cricket Club, stated that they are “85 to 90% there” in terms of obtaining the duo’s services.

Mulgrave Cricket Club, which competes in the Eastern Cricket Association (ECA), a third-tier competition in Melbourne, rose to prominence after securing the services of former Sri Lankan stars Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga.

Malin Pullenayegam has claimed that they are trying to rope in the retired legends to play for them.

“We are still looking for more sponsors to back us up, there is a fair financial commitment for a local cricket club,” Pullenayegam said.

The ECA T20 Cup will feature three preliminary matches before a knock-out round of up to three further games, all of which will take place between November and February, in between one- and two-day contests.

Yuvraj Singh and Brian Lara both played cricket in Australia in February of the last year, during a charity match between Ponting XI and Gilchrist XI to raise funds for bushfire victims in Australia. Earlier this year, the left-handed batting combination competed in the Road Safety Series in India.
