Yash Dhull has already made headlines for a number of accomplishments, including leading India to a record sixth U-19 World Cup captaincy last month in the Caribbean. The 19-year-old was selected for the Delhi team for the Ranji Trophy season 2021-22, and he quickly rewarded the confidence by smashing double centuries on his debut while starting the innings. For the first time in his career, he has signed an IPL contract by the Delhi Capitals for INR 50 lakhs. Starting with a brilliant century in the U-19 World Cup semi-finals, Dhull has been on a tear, collecting hundreds in each innings against a formidable Tamil Nadu bowling attack. In a recent interview, he also discussed his ambitions to join the senior Indian team within two years and how he plans to achieve them.

Dhull said that he expected the Delhi Capitals club to make an offer in the mega auction for him and that he was looking forward to working with head coach Ricky Ponting. He went on to say that England fast bowler Jofra Archer is one bowler he’s been wanting to face for a long and that he’d want to team up with David Warner.

“As a member of their academy, I was already anticipating to be selected by the Delhi Capitals. I’m incredibly excited to meet Ricky Ponting and perform under his direction,” he told the Print. “I’d want to take on Jofra Archer as a bowler. With his bowling, he is quite fast. I’d love to collaborate with David Warner during the IPL for DC.” Despite being signed up by the Mumbai Indians franchise, Archer will not be able to participate in the IPL 2022 due to his elbow injury.
