West Indies will play three T20Is and as many ODIs in Pakistan from December 13 to 22, according to Cricket West Indies (CWI) (November 4). The National Stadium in Karachi will host all of the matches. The series is part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, in which West Indies is now ranked ninth out of thirteen teams, with four victories and five losses. Pakistan is only one place ahead of them, in seventh place, with similar wins and losses.

CWI’s statement comes after both New Zealand and England cancelled recent visits, putting Pakistan’s preparations for the T20 World Cup in jeopardy. New Zealand cancelled their visit hours before the first ODI in Rawalpindi, claiming security concerns, while the ECB cancelled their men’s and women’s tours days later, citing the players’ mental health. For the West Indies, this is their first visit to Pakistan since three T20Is in April of last year. “We’ve finalised the dates for the West Indies Men’s white-ball trip to Pakistan in December today.”

“CWI would like to express its gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as well as our own cricket operations, medical, and security teams for their efforts in organising this tour.” CWI’s Chief Executive Officer, Johnny Greaves, stated.

“We’re looking forward to visiting Pakistan to round off what has been a hectic and momentous year of cricket in light of the ongoing problems of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
