Umran Malik’s blistering speed and ability to take wickets have made him the talk of the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL). Following a deft set-up against Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer earlier in the week, the 22-year-old took IPL 2022 by storm with a triple-wicket maiden in the 20th over of the match against Punjab Kings, putting him among Lasith Malinga and Irfan Pathan on the exclusive list. In his next game, Umran will go after the big wicket of an India icon.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will meet Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Brabourne Stadium on April 23, and Umran has his sights set on former RCB captain and India captain Virat Kohli. Umran told to Sports Today on Tuesday that he wanted to get KL Rahul out in the match against the Lucknow Super Giants and admitting that he tried hard, but now wants to knock Kohli out in the RCB match.

“One of them was KL Rahul. We were up against them in a game. I was desperate to get him out. But we have a match against RCB coming up, so I’d like to get Virat Kohli out. I’m a tremendous fan of both of them.” He stated.

This will be Umran’s first encounter with Kohli in any form of cricket, but he spoke about his conversation with the 33-year-old and the advice he provided him in an interview last month.

“Virat Kohli approached me and told me that I needed to improve my bowling and fitness. He advised me to work hard and that the India cap was not far away if I did. When the time comes, I’ll have my chance,” Malik told India.com.
