Virat Kohli has said that I will open in T20 World Cup, says Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan, who has two consecutive fifties in the IPL, claims that skipper Virat Kohli has assured him that he will be considered as an opener in the Indian T20 World Cup squad.
In the final two games for Mumbai Indians, the 23-year-old Kishan hit 84 off 32 balls and 50 not out off 25 balls at the top of the order, but it was in vain as the reigning champions were knocked out of the play-offs due to a lower net run-rate than Kolkata Knight Riders. Even though the five-time champions scored 235 in the end, MI needed to win their final game by a margin of at least 170 runs.
Ishan Kishan is pleased to be back in shape, which will help Team India prepare for the huge tournament. Rohit Sharma is India’s constant opener, and while KL Rahul and skipper Virat Kohli have opened with him in T20, Kishan may be seen alongside him in the forthcoming T20 World Cup.
“I’d like to open, and Virat bhai stated as much. However, on a larger scale, you must be ready for everything. It’s a win-win situation for myself and the team. Before the World Cup, we’re getting in touch and it is critical to be in a positive frame of mind. I realised we were in a life-or-death scenario. It was all about the intention and the good attitude. You must be prepared for any eventuality. It’s critical to be in that frame of mind. I had a discussion with Virat bhai, Hardik Pandya, Pollard – they were all there”, Kishan stated.
