Suryakumar Yadav put up a fantastic display in the third T20I of the series against Sri Lanka on Saturday, smashing an unbeaten 112 off 51 deliveries. Team India’s top batter Virat Kohli responded. Suryakumar led the Indian team to a respectable score of 228/5 in 20 overs, his third century in the format and the second-fastest by an Indian in T20Is.

In reaction to Suryakumar’s game-winning shot, Kohli shared a picture of the batter on his Instagram story along with the emojis “fire” and “clap.” The two players have established critical connections and a strong feeling of teamwork for the Indian side in both limited-over formats in 2022.

Following is Kohli’s description of Suryakumar:

Suryakumar toyed with the Sri Lankan bowlers, hitting fours and maximums all over the field at random and in his trademark manner to reach his third T20I century.

After completing his fifty in 26 deliveries, Surya needed only 19 more to cross the 100-run mark. In the final over against Chamika Karunaratne, he hit a six and a four to end the game. Suryakumar hit seven fours and nine sixes in Rajkot to register a century.

India selected the same starting XI for the game after winning the toss and electing to bat at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The three-match series is tied at 1-1 after Sri Lanka’s 16-run victory in Pune in the second T20I and India’s 2-run victory in the first. The first T20I was won by India by 2 runs.

India’s top three players, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul, will return for a three-match ODI series after the T20 Internationals. In the ODI series, Hardik Pandya will serve as Rohit’s assistant.
