Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain, could be fired midway through the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021’s UAE leg, according to the latest news. Prior to the start of the season, the experienced batter revealed that he will stand down as RCB captain after this tournament. Kohli has been Bangalore’s full-time captain since the 2013 season, so it was a big decision.

Despite his brilliance with the bat at this time, the seasoned cricketer failed to lead the team to victory even once. As a result, the upcoming competition is Kohli’s final chance to win the IPL as RCB captain. While the Bangalore-based team was on fire in the first half, they struggled to get off to a flying start in the UAE leg. In their debut match, RCB were humiliated by Kolkata Knight Riders, losing by nine wickets.

Virat Kohli’s side put up a poor batting display at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi after electing to bat first. They were bundled out for just 92 runs. Kohli couldn’t do much better, striking five runs in four balls before succumbing to Prasidh Krishna’s pace. KKR didn’t break a sweat chasing the unimpressive total, crossing the line in just 10 overs.

Needless to say, RCB’s poor performance drew a lot of criticism from various quarters. Kohli was also chastised for his batting performance. While many fans and experts chastised the 32-year-old, one former cricketer, speaking on the condition of anonymity, predicted that Kohli would be fired as RCB captain before the tournament ended.
