India beat Bangladesh and in doing so they set up a meeting with Sri Lanka in the Under-19 Asia Cup. Shaik Rasheed made an unbeaten 90 to make a path for India’s victory. Rasheed scored 108 runs in 108 balls to help India record 248 for eight. After losing both of India’s openers, Angkrish Raghuvanshi (16) and Harnoor Singh (15), within the 50-run mark in the 17th over, Rasheed timed his innings to perfection.

After that, the Indian bowlers put up a concerted effort to dismiss Bangladesh for 140 runs in 38.2 overs. Bangladesh’s highest scorer was Ariful Islam, who hit 42 off 77 balls, while opener Mahfijul Islam made 26. Bangladesh’s chase didn’t make off the ground as Indian spinners collected wickets at regular intervals, with only Ariful offering some fight. Ravi Kumar split eight wickets with Vicky Ostwal, Raj Bawa and Rajvardhan Hangargekar for India, while Kaushal Tambe and Nishant Sindhu each took one wicket.

Earlier, the Indian openers struggled, and it wasn’t until they were dismissed that the run rate began to improve. Nishant Sindhu (5) was bowled cheaply by India before Rasheed and captain Yash Dhull (26 off 29) added 41 runs for the fourth wicket to keep the innings afloat.

Raj Bawa, Vicky Ostwal, and Rajvardhan Hangargekar contributed at the other end to help Rasheed. Rasheed’s effort, although not spectacular, was sufficient to give the Indian bowlers a goal to chase. During his unbeaten innings, he hit three boundaries and one six.
