Two Indian athletes, including Shubman Gill, are up for ICC Player of the Month in January 2023.
The candidates for the Player of the Month award for January 2023 were revealed by the International Cricket Council on Tuesday. Two of the three candidates are cricket players from India, Shubman Gill, and Mohammed Siraj, with Devon Conway of New Zealand rounding out the group. For fans to vote for the three cricketers, the ICC has also provided a link on their website.
Gill has recently put up fantastic performances across formats as payback for blazing up the run charts. He finished the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in January 2023 as the player with the second-highest run total, with 207 runs at an average of 69.00. Then, in the same month, he excelled in both the three-match ODI series and the three-match T20I series against New Zealand. He scored 360 runs in three ODI matches at an astounding average of 180.00, and he also won Player of the Series for his blitzkrieg. In T20Is, Gill carried up his excellent form and finished with the most runs, hitting 144 runs in three games at an astounding average of 72.00. Gill scored his maiden century in T20I cricket as well as a double century in ODIs over January and February.
Siraj, the current No. 1 bowler in the world in ODIs, had the most wickets in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in January. In the three games, he took nine wickets. Then, in two ODI games against New Zealand, he picked up five wickets, continuing his outstanding bowling performance.
Conway, a New Zealand batsman, stood out during the three-match ODI series against India, scoring 155 runs at an impressive average of 51.67. In January, he smashed three hundred and two fifties across all forms.
