Team India, captained by KL Rahul, started preparing in Harare on Sunday for their three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. The first One Day International (ODI) is slated to start on Thursday, the second ODI on Saturday, and the third ODI on Monday. India will go for the Asia Cup after the three-match ODI series.

Rahul’s replacement as captain, Dhawan, was already announced. Rahul was also disqualified from the West Indies series following a positive Covid-19 test. In a statement, BCCI said: “KL Rahul has been given the all-clear by the BCCI Medical Team to participate in the next three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe. Shikhar Dhawan has been picked as his assistant captain by the All-India Senior Selection Committee “.

A tournament for direct qualifying for the ODI World Cup next year, the Zimbabwe series is a part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League.
