The lineup for the two Tests in South Africa includes Tamim Iqbal and Shakib al Hasan. Tamim will captain the team in the three-match ODI series that will begin on March 18 in Centurion. Shakib has already said that he would not be available for the Test series due to his desire to participate in the Indian Premier League. The allrounder, on the other hand, went unsold at auction, clearing the way for his inclusion.

Tamim last played a Test against Sri Lanka at Pallekele in April 2021, when he was suffering from a knee ailment. He healed well enough before the Bangladesh Cricket League’s one-day tournament to prepare for international cricket, and he played in all three of Bangladesh’s one-day internationals against Afghanistan, which they won 3-0. Apart from Khaled’s participation, the ODI team remained intact against Pakistan, but in the Test squad, Fazle Mahmud Rabbi and Mohammad Naim made way for Tamim and Shakib.

The guests will not be subjected to quarantine since they will begin practising on March 14 after their arrival on March 12. The matches will be held at four different locations from March 18 to April 12. The ICC Cricket World Cup Super League and the ICC World Test Championship will both award points for both series. Bangladesh leads the Super League with ten victories from 15 games and a total of 100 points. With one victory and three defeats, they are now sixth in the WTC standings.
