Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Chahar ruled out of Sri Lanka T20Is
The India team, lead by Rohit Sharma, has been dealt a pair of huge blows ahead of their three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, which begins on Thursday. Deepak Chahar, a fast bowler, and Suryakumar Yadav, a middle-order batsman, have been ruled out of the forthcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. In the third and final T20I against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday, Deepak received a right quadriceps injury while bowling, while Suryakumar suffered a hairline fracture while fielding.
The pair will now go to Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy for further treatment of their ailments. Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Shardul Thakur have already been rested from the T20I series by the team management. Kohli and Pant will join the squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka, while Shardul has been given a rest for the whole series. Deepak Chahar began out by eliminating Kyle Mayers and Shai Hope in the last T20I encounter against, but while bowling the fifth ball of his second over, the seamer pulled up and walked off the field, clutching his hip. In the IPL super auction, Chennai Super Kings paid Rs 14 crore to get Deepak Chahar back.
Suryakumar Yadav, who was on fire, smacked a 31-ball 65 with seven sixes. Venkatesh was led by Yadav during a 91-run fifth-wicket partnership off 37 balls. The West Indies bowlers were rattled by Yadav’s leadership, and they lost the plot, playing into the batsmen’s hands. Man-of-the-Match and Man-of-the-Series went to Yadav.
