Steve Smith is going through a rough patch and it seems it has gone even worse as he has been ruled out of the Sri Lanka T20I series for the next couple of days. According to a statement by Cricket Australia, his treatment and recovery will take two weeks. In the penultimate over of a nail-biting chase, Smith suffered a head injury while attempting to rescue a six. As he attempted to save a smash from Maheesh Theekshana at the midwicket boundary rope, he did a full-length dive. But he fell on his head, and his foot also hit the ropes, allowing Sri Lanka to push the game into the super over with a six and a four off the last ball.

Smith, who had regained his footing after some time on the ground, stood up and saw the umpire announce a six with displeasure. In the Super Over, Australia dominated and seized a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. On February 15, the third T20I will be played in Canberra.
