Sourav Ganguly was ruthlessly criticized for his tweet about the defeat of the Indian women’s cricket team in the CWG.

Cricket supporters were not pleased with BCCI president Sourav Ganguly’s recent tweet on the Indian women’s cricket team’s tragic loss in the Commonwealth Games 2022 final. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team had to settle for the silver medal after falling nine runs short of the target when chasing down 162 against the formidable Australia on Sunday at the Edgbaston Cricket venue in Birmingham. After the match, Ganguly tweeted about it and the team’s performance, but the former captain of India was savagely criticized by the audience.

While congratulating the Indian team on their silver medal, Ganguly expressed his opinion that they would be dissatisfied with the result since they were in a position to win the game. Congratulations to the Indian women’s team on their silver medal, although he had stated that they would be sad since it was their match that night.

Twitter, on the other hand, disapproved of the remark and instead criticized Ganguly, calling him the “greatest letdown” and his tweet “ironic.”

The early dismissal of Allysa Healy by Renuka Singh gave India an excellent start in the final, but Australia was able to rally thanks to a 74-run partnership between Beth Mooney and skipper Meg Lanning. India responded, however, with some excellent fielding and batting to limit Australia to 161 for 8 in 20 overs.

In response, India lost both their openers – Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma – within the first three overs, but a valiant partnership of 96-runs between Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet left India on the brink of victory. The captain had properly positioned the game for the remaining batsmen to finish the chase with her 65 in 43 balls. India fell nine runs short of the mark, though, as they lost their last five wickets for only 13 runs.
