The three-match ODI series between Team India and Zimbabwe is scheduled to commence on August 18. However, the squad ran into well-known Indian actor Varun Dhawan before boarding the plane for the African nation. The actor’s encounter with the Team India athletes went viral when he posted images on his official social media profile. Shikhar Dhawan, the team’s veteran opener, also uploaded a photo of Varun to Instagram with a funny comment.

Dhawan cited a well-known song from Varun’s 2014 film “Main Tera Hero” while sharing a photo with the actor. “Tera dhyaan kidhar hai, tera #Dhawan idhar hai,” he wrote. Their admirers are thrilled by the friendship between Varun and Shikhar. Someone wrote on social media, “Dhawan’s Supremacy.”

The Indian squad left for Zimbabwe early in the morning, but Varun just finished filming “Bawaal,” which also stars Janhvi Kapoor.

Shikhar Dhawan had been chosen captain of the Indian squad earlier this month, but the BCCI said this week that KL Rahul, who is healthy and ready to captain, will take that position. Dhawan, who remains a key component of the ODI lineup, recently guided the team to a 3-0 clean sweep series triumph over the West Indies.

Meanwhile, Rahul will rejoin the team for the first time since February of this year. The Indian series opener missed the England trip last month due to injury, as well as the home series against South Africa. Rahul was forced to cancel the visit at the last minute despite being selected for the West Indies T20Is while testing positive for Covid-19.

Rahul will join the Indian T20I team as it gears up for the Asia Cup in the UAE after the conclusion of the ODI series in Zimbabwe.
