Shakib Al Hasan, a Bangladesh allrounder, is expected to miss the two-match Test series against South Africa in March and April. According to Cricbuzz, the all-rounder would be eligible for the three-match ODI series before joining the Indian Premier League if he is selected by any club for the lucrative event, which begins on March 27.

“Shakib will undoubtedly play the ODIs against South Africa, and while he did not specify his availability for the Test series, he assured us that he would be available for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka,” BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus stated. BCB has notified the BCCI that their top all-rounder would be unavailable for the IPL from May 8 to 23. At that time, Bangladesh is set to play two Tests against Sri Lanka as part of the ICC Test Championship. Shakib had also missed the Tests in New Zealand, and he recently disclosed that he was considering retiring from Test cricket because it was becoming more difficult to play all three formats.
