Babar Azam concluded the last T20 World Cup in the UAE as the player with the most runs scored. He had long held the No. 1 spot and continued to rule the format for most of 2022 until the Pakistani captain’s form dipped during the Asia Cup in September and finally reached a low during the present T20 World Cup. Former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi has advised Babar to bat lower in the order because of his poor bat results. Legendary Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist, though, has refuted the notion with a direct comment.

Babar has only managed to score 39 runs in 63 balls and no sixes in his first five innings. Against India, he scored a golden duck in addition to four other single-digit runs. Babar tried to remain long at the crease during the game against Bangladesh, but he only managed a 33-ball 25, leaving Pakistan in trouble until Mohammad Haris came to the team’s aid.

Harris has played two back-to-back vital innings while Babar is having trouble, which has greatly aided Pakistan in both of the games. Many people have been amazed by his aggressive style and ability to strike sixes at will. Afridi is one of them and has recommended that Babar play at No. 3 to create room for Harris as the opener, which would help Pakistan get the powerplay off to a strong start.

“@babarazam258 We need hitters like Haris and Shahdab, who are demonstrating definite purpose, at the top of the order. Please take into account Haris beginning with Riz and you down one, then your next best hitter. You should be adamant about winning the game and supple about your batting lineup, “After the Bangladesh game, he tweeted.

Gilchrist disagrees with the idea, however, and has instead supported Babar to regain his form.

“Oh no, I believe Babar is an opening batter because of his stellar record. He’s facing difficulties, but I believe his talent will allow him to triumph; he’s a great player “During his speech on Paktv.tv, Gilchrist.

Additionally, Gilchrist commented on Pakistan’s prospects in the T20 World Cup.

It is difficult to anticipate, therefore I’m not sure who is the favorite,” remarked Gilchrist. Pakistan has done well to persevere in the competition and find themselves in the semi-final, thus I suppose they have the same chance to win as anybody.
