After decimating Pat Cummins’ Australia in the series opener of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 in Nagpur on Saturday, Rohit Sharma’s Team India has made a noteworthy change in their star-studded squad before the second encounter of the bilateral Test series in New Delhi. At Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Rohit’s magnificent century and Ravindra Jadeja’s all-around performance enabled hosts India to humiliate Australia in the first Test of the four-match series.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that bowler Jaydev Unadkat has been dropped from the Indian team ahead of the second Test match against the Aussies. Australia will be Team India’s next opponent in New Delhi. According to a media advisory, Unadkat will be dropped from India’s lineup before the second test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a discussion with the Indian team management.

For Team India, Paccer Unadkat has participated in two Test matches. At SuperSport Park in 2010, the 31-year-old made his Test debut against South Africa. The renowned pacer’s last appearance for India in a Test match took place in 2022 at Shere Bangla National Stadium against Bangladesh. The Saurashtra team, who has guaranteed their place in the Ranji Trophy final, has received official confirmation from India’s top cricket governing body that Jaydev would join them.

In the Ranji Trophy 2022–23 semi-final at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Saurashtra, led by Arpit Vasavada, beat Karnataka by 4 wickets despite Mayank Agarwal’s double century. In contrast to Saurashtra’s victory against Karnataka, Bengal, led by Akash Deep, crushed Madhya Pradesh by 306 runs to secure a spot in the Ranji Trophy final.

Bengal and Saurashtra will face off in the Ranji Trophy championship match on February 16 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. On February 17, Rohit and company will face off against Australia in the second test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
