In the most recent round of testing, India skipper Rohit Sharma tested negative for Covid-19. Rohit, who missed the current rescheduled Edgbaston Test owing to an illness, is now eligible for the white-ball series against England, which begins with the first T20I on Thursday in Southampton (July 7).

“Yes, Rohit tested negative and is currently out of quarantine, according to medical regulations. However, he will miss today’s T20 warm-up game against Northamptonshire since he would require some rest and training before the first T20I “According to PTI, who cited a top BCCI official.

Rohit has tested positive three times, causing him to be ruled out of the Test, which began on July 1. In his absence, Jasprit Bumrah is captaining the team.

While Rohit will now be available for all six white-ball matches that follow, the likes of Virat Kohli, Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja – who are part of Test XI – will only link up ahead of the second T20I, as the BCCI named two different squads for the three-match series to give the red-ball regulars some rest.
