India has begun their preparations for the rescheduled fifth Test against England. The match, which is part of a five-match Test series that began in 2021, will take place at Old Trafford from July 1 to 5 and will be followed by India’s short overs visit, which will include three T20Is and as many ODIs. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released images of India’s Test players practicing at Leicestershire Cricket Club on Monday, claiming that the club would be the team’s headquarters for the week.

The BCCI has already posted images of the players in London training. While top players such as captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and the returning Cheteshwar Pujara are in England, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and batter Shreyas Iyer just arrived on Monday after India’s T20I series against South Africa ended.

On their Instagram account, the BCCI also posted a video of Rohit and Shubman Gill in the nets. After a Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp, the last Test of the series was postponed last year on the day the match was set to begin. India is up 2-1 in the series.

Since the series was postponed, a lot has changed for both teams. Both sides have new captains, with India’s Virat Kohli stepping down earlier this year and Rohit Sharma taking his place. Meanwhile, after Joe Root was fired, all-rounder Ben Stokes took over as England captain. Both teams have new head coaches as well. While Ravi Shastri stood down as India’s coach last year and was replaced by Rahul Dravid, England’s Test coach, Chris Silverwood, was fired last month.
