According to recent reports, Rohit Sharma is expected to be named India’s Test captain ahead of the next home series against Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan side will go to India later this month for two Tests and three Twenty20 Internationals, beginning February 24. The onus is now on the BCCI selectors to choose a Test captain, and the Chetan Sharma-led committee is expected to choose Rohit for the job.

The vital role became available to the uninitiated when Virat Kohli stood out after India’s 1-2 loss to South Africa. Rohit, who is in charge of the ODI and T20I teams, has performed well in the longer format recently and is the front-runner for the job. The cricket world, on the other hand, is split on whether the opener should assume command of the Test squad.

Meanwhile, it has been claimed that the Sri Lanka series has been rescheduled from its original timetable. The T20I portion of the trip will now begin on February 24 in Lucknow. The second and third T20Is will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala on February 26 and 27.

After that, the focus will shift to the test matches. The first test will be held at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali. Virat Kohli, the former captain, will play his 100th Test match in this match, and all eyes will be on him. The match was originally scheduled to take place at Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, Kohli’s virtual home field due to his 14-year relationship with the IPL’s Royal Challengers Bangalore. Meanwhile, the second test will be held at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
