83, starring Ranveer Singh, has already generated a lot of buzzes, and fans can’t wait to see it in theaters. The sports drama is based on India’s resounding World Cup victory in 1983. The film, which will be released on December 24, will depict how the Kapil Dev-led team defied all odds to win the English Premier League.

Meanwhile, the film has once again made headlines, but this time for the wrong reasons. A complaint about cheating has been filed against the film’s producers, putting the film in jeopardy. Deepika Padukone, a veteran actress and one of the film’s producers, has also been dragged into the controversy. This incident may even jeopardize the release of the much-anticipated film.

According to a report in The Times of India, a UAE-based financier claimed that his company invested around INR 16 crore in 83 after Vibri Media promised good returns. The businessman, however, did not receive what was promised, and he filed a complaint against the makers of 83 in Mumbai’s Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

According to the daily, the financier’s funds were used to fund multiple deals involving producers Sajid Nadiadwala, Kabir Khan, and Deepika Padukone, among others. The funds were allegedly utilized to finance the film’s production but without the businessman’s formal approval or assent. In a statement, the businessman’s lawyer, Rizwan Siddiquee, stated that his client has filed a complaint against all of the producers of 83 on the basis of deceit and criminal conspiracy.

When it comes to the film, Kabir Khan’s directorial debut has a lot riding on it. In addition to Ranveer and Deepika, numerous notable performers will be seen in the film, including Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, and Saqib Saleem. On November 30, the film’s first trailer was unveiled, and fans were blown away. The nearly four-minute film takes viewers through a number of famous occasions that set the way for India’s historic victory in cricket.
