No one ever explained why I was dropped as SRH captain, says David Warner
David Warner of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) said that he was not given a sufficient explanation as to why he was fired as the team’s captain. The Australian went on to say that he has the biggest regard for the owners as well as the support staff, and that when a decision is made, it must be made unanimously. The left-handed batsman went on to say that whatever a player has done in the past would undoubtedly carry some weight in the future.
“With the greatest respect for the owners, Trevor Baylis, Laxman, Moody, and Murali, any choice must be made unanimously. You have no idea who is working for you and who isn’t. Another thing that disappointed me was not being told why I was demoted from captain. If you want to stick to the lines of form, it’s a tough one because, you’d think, anything you’ve done in the past would have some weight moving forward,” David Warner told Sports Today.
David Warner also noted that he has appeared in over 100 IPL matches for the ‘Orange Army,’ with only four poor performances at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in IPL 2021. Warner went on to say that the way he was treated was a difficult pill for him to take, but that he would love to play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) again in the future.
“I think I had four awful games in the first five matches in Chennai, which is a lot when you’ve played over 100 games for the franchise. It’s a tough pill to swallow. There are still some questions for which I believe I will never receive a solution, but you must move on. I would want nothing more than to represent Sunrisers, but the decision is obviously up to the owners,” David Warner said.
David Warner has appeared in 150 IPL matches, scoring 5449 runs at an average of 41.60 and a strike rate of 139.97.
