Twitter was taken aback when broadcasters released commentary footage from India vs. Pakistan’s T20 World Cup match
The 2022 T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was a heart-pounding contest. Fans sat on the edge of their seats as Virat Kohli spearheaded the effort with his brilliant knock, and India recovered from the early setback. As the last-over drama played out, the Indian fans erupted in jubilation as the Men in Blue scripted a four-wicket victory to open their campaign wonderfully. A day later, the ICC also made available a video of the last two overs, with Harsha Bhogle’s commentary adding to the tension. On Tuesday, Star Sports did the same thing, but fans were taken aback by Gautam Gambhir’s behavior during the last over.
Pakistan had Mohammad Nawaz bowl the last over, and India needed 16 points to win. After Kohli hit back-to-back sixes against Haris Rauf, India seemed to be on the verge of victory, but it appeared as if they would easily win the game. But after dismissing Hardik Pandya with the opening delivery, the Pakistani spinner let up three runs in the next two deliveries. Within the last three balls, drama developed.
Before it was ruled a no-ball, Kohli hit a six off a high full delivery from Nawaz over square leg. Although the Pakistani squad was furious, India grabbed seven runs off that ball and moved closer to victory. After a wide ball, Kohli shrewdly sprinted for three further runs. Nawaz recovered however by having Dinesh Karthik fired. Then, after deftly tackling Nawaz, Ashwin lofted the wider one over extra cover to score the winning run.
On Tuesday, Star Sports made available a video of the commentary team from the game between India and Pakistan’s last over. The message said, “The #GreatestRivalry’s suspenseful conclusion was captured on video” (camera). Prepare for #INDvNED by reliving the winning shot of #INDvPAK with @cricketaakash, #SanjayBangar, and @GautamGambhir! In the last over, Sanjay Bangar briefly joined the commentary, although Aakash Chopra is seen standing and handling the rest of it. However, Gambhir’s performance astounded the crowd. And here is their response. The Netherlands will play India next on October 27 in Sydney.
