Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh’s senior campaigner, will miss the next West Indies tour.

According to Cricbuzz, Mushfiqur earlier informed the board that he would be unable owing to a religious tour. Bangladesh team director Khaled Mahmud confirmed the story.

“Yes, he (Mushfiqur) will be unavailable for the West Indies tour because he wants to finish his Hajj,” Mahmud told Cricbuzz on Friday.

The visitors will suffer a huge setback, especially in the Test format, since they will be missing four key players owing to injuries: Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Nayeem Islam.

Bangladesh will leave Dhaka on June 6 for a tour that will comprise two Tests, three One-Day Internationals, and three Twenty20 Internationals. According to the provisional itinerary, the first Test will be conducted in Antigua from June 16-20, followed by the second Test in St Lucia from June 24-28.

On July 2 and 3, Dominica will host the first two Twenty20 Internationals, with Guyana hosting the third on July 7. Three one-day internationals will be held in Guyana on July 10, 13, and 16.
