MS Dhoni’s future in the Indian Cricket Team has been a hot discussion among fans and experts since World Cup 2019. The former captain hasn’t said anything about his future career, therefore intensifying the topic.

Former Indian fast bowler, Ashish Nehra, believes that MS Dhoni has played his last game for India against New Zealand in July and will not be seen on the field in the blue jersey. Having played under the captaincy of Dhoni, Nehra believes that if Dhoni considers playing then, without a doubt, he will be the first pick on the team sheet.

Following to this, Nehra said, “As much as I know MS Dhoni, he has played his last game for India happily. MS Dhoni has nothing to prove and we, in the media, discuss all these things because he hasn’t announced his retirement.”

Only he can tell what’s in his head,” to the media. In the world cup semi-finals in July 2019, Dhoni had kept Indian hopes alive with a valuable half-century but was run out at a crucial moment in the game, which turned the tide in New Zealand’s favour.

Nehra, currently a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore, states that Dhoni’s comeback in IPL, as the skipper of Chennai Super Kings, can’t be a selection criteria for a player of MS Dhoni’s stature. “He knows how to run the team, he knows how to push youngsters forward, all those things I don’t need to repeat again and again. I don’t think this IPL makes any difference to his stature, his aura as a player and I don’t think so that a tournament like IPL should be MS Dhoni’s selection criteria,” said Nehra.
