MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), provided an update on his availability for the IPL 2022 mega auction and whether he will continue to play for the Chennai franchise. On Thursday, he will lead CSK against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their final league encounter.

Dhoni had already claimed that supporters will most likely be allowed to attend his ‘farewell game’ in Chepauk. Major changes will be made to the franchisees for the upcoming season, as well as the addition of two new teams. Dhoni believes he will continue to play in yellow, but he is unsure if it will be with CSK.

“You’ll see me in yellow next season, but you never know if I’ll be playing for CSK. There are a lot of unknowns ahead; two new teams are on their way, we don’t know what the retention criteria are, and so on,” the 40-year-old remarked.

The Chennai team will face the Delhi Capitals in the final league game with the same lineup as last week’s loss. Suresh Raina, who has been out of form, has been replaced by Robin Uthappa, who has been given another chance to prove his value.

Nicholas Pooran was dropped from Punjab’s squad after a streak of poor performances. His chances appeared to be dwindling, therefore England pacer Chris Jordan was called in to take his place. Unless anything unexpected happens in the final round, CSK is extremely likely to finish in the top two. PBKS, on the other hand, will need a miracle to make the playoffs. With five wins in thirteen games, they are in sixth place.
