Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel are instrumental in the Delhi Capitals’ victory
The Delhi Capitals upset Mumbai Indians with a four-wicket win at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday, thanks to Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel. The Capitals were 72 for 5 after 9.4 overs while chasing 178. With only 6.4 overs remaining, Basil Thampi removed Shardul Thakur in the 14th over, the target was still 74 runs away. However, in an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 75 off 30 balls, Lalit and Axar sealed up the game with ten balls to spare. Lalit finished on 48 off 38 balls after a difficult start, while Axar hit 38 off just 17 balls.
The Mumbai Indians had been rocked by Kuldeep Yadav’s 3 for 18 after a good start, but Ishan Kishan struck and blasted an unbeaten 81.
Mumbai set a formidable 177 for 5 thanks to his knock, which included 11 fours and two sixes. For the majority of Capitals’ innings, it even appeared like a winning total before Lalit and Axar grabbed the game away. The surface was tinged with green, and Thakur got off to a shaky start against Rohit Sharma. However, Rohit clipped the third ball of his first over down the leg side to the fine-leg boundary. Thakur bowled full outside off three balls later, and Rohit launched him over wide long-off for six.
This was a foreshadowing of what was to come. On a track that provided little for the bowlers, Rohit and Kishan took full advantage of the Capitals’ erratic bowling, which saw their seamers bowl either too full or too short. Rohit and Kishan smacked five fours and three sixes in the opening five overs.
