Kane Williamson might miss upcoming South Africa test series due to elbow injury

Williamson’s presence as captain in the upcoming Test series against South Africa is not looking good as he is still recovering from his elbow injury. This news could not have come at a worse time for the Black Caps, who will miss out on a significant opportunity to beat the Proteas in the test series, but without their captain, their winning chance is looking bleak.

Kane has been out of action since the Test match against India in Kanpur. According to a report by india.com, “While Kane Williamson is making good progress in his recovery from an elbow injury that has kept him out of the last three tests for the Black Caps, the test series against the Proteas, which begins on February 17, is likely to be considered too soon for him to return to top-flight play. New Zealand Cricket, on the other hand, would continue to be careful, preferring to bring him back into action gradually to avoid any setbacks”.

“The two tests are thought to be too hard for the 31-year-old at this point, perhaps jeopardizing his fitness for the rest of the year, which includes a three-Test series against England in June and the Twenty20 World Cup starting in Australia in October”, the report concludes.
