The senior women’s team for the three ODIs and as many T20Is in England was unveiled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Smriti Mandhana has been selected vice-captain, with Harmanpreet Kaur serving as the team’s captain in both formats. In the ODIs, seasoned bowler Jhulan Goswami rejoins the team. In addition, Kiran Navgire received her first national call-up after being selected for the T20I team. The opening T20I of the trip will be played in Durham on September 10 before games are played in Derby and Bristol.

In the Women’s T20 Challenge match between Velocity and Trailblazers earlier this year, when she hammered 69 off only 34 deliveries, hitting five fours and as many sixes, Navgire garnered attention for his remarkable power-hitting.

Richa Ghosh, who was not selected for the recently finished Commonwealth Games, has also rejoined India’s T20I team. While Yastika Bhatia retains her spot for the fifty-over matches, she loses it for the T20Is. In addition, Jemimah Rodrigues, who was benched for the World Cup earlier this year, has made a comeback to ODIs.

Before being pulled out of the competition earlier this week due to injury, Jemimah put up good performances for India during the CWG and maintained his strong play in “The Hundred.” Another new player on the team is Simran Dil Bahadur, who has been selected for both T20 Internationals and ODIs.
