Tuesday’s third and final Test match in Pakistan saw Ben Stokes and England demolish Babar Azam and company, closing off an incredible series triumph. The Stokes-led England squad accomplished a historic sweep of the Babar-led team at their stadium by defeating Pakistan by 8 wickets. After restarting their innings on 112-2 and chasing down the manageable 167-run target in only 38 minutes, England overcame Pakistan in a historic series in Karachi. The team’s captain was Stokes.

With their straightforward win in the third Test, England handed Babar’s Pakistan squad their first home whitewash in the oldest and most established format of the game. Before their first visit to Pakistan in 17 years, England had only won two Test matches there. The 3-0 victory by England also marks the first series win in Pakistan since 2000–2001. Former cricketer Salman Butt criticized the Babar-led squad after Pakistan’s humbling series defeat.

On his YouTube channel, former Pakistani captain Butt expressed his thoughts and emphasized how England, who was in town, won the series despite being without many seasoned players. “Pakistan seemed to have no notion, for instance, how to choose players or set up a pitch. They had no plans. Even their strategy for the kind of cricket they would play was lacking. England was unprepared even when at full strength. Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow, and Stuart Broad were not on the roster. Butt noted that Pakistan had been “totally and utterly whitewashed.”

During the just concluded third Test match in Karachi, Rehan Ahmed’s outstanding bowling and Harry Brook’s spectacular century guided England to a convincing win against Pakistan. Brook, an Englishman, was named the Series’ best player. Former Pakistani cricketer Butt criticized the Pakistani think tank again after the game in Karachi and questioned why Nauman Ali was not selected for the first two Tests of the three-game series.

“Selectors must take the kind of task they are doing into account. Who selected the squad for the (T20) World Cup? It was strange how they chose their spinners for the Test series. Nauman Ali missed the first several Test matches for what reason? Several issues need to be resolved. Who will be held accountable?” questioned the former Pakistani captain.
