Rahul Tripathi has been competing on India’s local circuit for almost a decade, yet he has yet to wear the national shirt. The now 31-year-old initially made news when he scored a lot of runs for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant, which was captained by Steve Smith

After that, he joined the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he played under Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik as captains. The Men in Gold and Purple released him ahead of the 2022 major auction in February, and he was signed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), captained by Kane Williamson.

By any stretch of the imagination, Tripathi did not flatter to mislead the Orange Army. The right-hander scored 393 runs at an average of 39.30 and a strike rate of 161.72 in his first 13 matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, with three half-centuries to show for his efforts.

Tripathi is playing for Team India at the top level. Former Australian hitter Matthew Hayden has already expressed his support for Tripathi. However, Tripathi’s luck ran out lately when he was not selected by the Indian selectors for the five-match T20I series against South Africa in June.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) picked an 18-member team on Sunday, May 22, and Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh were given national call-ups. Dinesh Karthik also returned after three years, but Tripathi didn’t have the same results.

Meanwhile, Tripathi’s supporters were dissatisfied when he was left out of the T20I team. Tripathi has been playing well enough recently, according to social media users, to merit a national call-up. After all, considering all the merits and his recent performances, he should have been in the Indian team.
