Sunil Narine of the Kolkata Knight Riders has made history by being the second overseas player to earn a salary of 100 crores ahead of the start of the IPL 2022. KKR has retained Narine for Rs 6 crore, and he will play for the team for the 11th straight season.

According to Insidesport, the West Indies all-rounder has earned a total of Rs 95.2 crore from the franchise over the last ten years, and with his extension for the IPL 2022, Narine has surpassed the 100-crore mark to become the tournament’s second-richest overseas player after RCB star AB de Villiers, who recently retired from all forms of cricket. Narine has been KKR’s go-to player in the last 10 seasons of the IPL, scoring over 950 runs and taking 143 wickets, and the 33-year-old will be anxious to establish his worth in the league’s 15th season.

Meanwhile, on November 30, KKR declared their four IPL 2022 retentions. West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell, mystery spinner Sunil Narine, and Indian players Venkatesh Iyer and mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy were all held back by the two-time champions.

In other news, R Ashwin, the ace off-spinner, admitted that the Chennai Super Kings are dear to his heart, but that his return to the club in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is contingent on auction dynamics. In addition to Rishabh Pant, Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel, and Prithi Shaw, Ashwin was released by Delhi Capitals after the IPL 2021 season.

“CSK is a franchise near and dear to my heart; it’s like a school to me. That is where I attended Pre-KG, LKG, UKG, and primary school, followed by middle school, and finally high school, where I completed my 10th grade board exams before transferring to a new school. I did my 11th and 12th grades outside for a number of years. After that, I went to Junior College for a few years. But, after finishing everything, one must return home, right? So, while I’d like to return home, it all relies on the auction dynamics “On his YouTube channel, Ashwin remarked on ’40 Shades of Ash.’

When CSK signed him for the initial season of the IPL, Ashwin was an uncapped Indian cricketer. In June 2010, Ashwin made his India debut against Sri Lanka. Ashwin played 94 IPL games with the franchise between 2011 and 2015, bringing up 90 wickets at a strike rate of 24.2.
