Some well-known international players will be absent from the IPL 2022 competition. These players have not only withdrawn or gone unsold from the IPL 2022 auction, but their availability for the next season is also doubtful.

Before the IPL begins on March 26, we take a look at three international stars who will be absent from the competition.

Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina, a former India batsman with a base price of Rs 2 crore, went unsold in an IPL auction for the first time in the tournament’s history. After missing IPL 2022 in the UAE owing to personal circumstances, the former Chennai Super Kings batter will miss an IPL season for just the second time in the tournament’s history.Raina has been a constant performer for CSK throughout the years, and not having him on the team has been “extremely tough”.

Notably, when he came up for bidding on Day 1 of the mega auction, he went unsold. The Chennai Super Kings, often known as ‘Chinna Thala,’ did not make an offer for him. On Day 2 of the bidding process in Bengaluru on Sunday, Raina was not on the list of players teams submitted for the final expedited round.

AB De Villiers

AB de Villiers is expected to be linked with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in some manner in the IPL in 2022, but his playing days are done. De Villiers, one of the finest hitters of his age, wowed fans across the globe with his deft stroke play and chivalry.

Even in the IPL 2021 season, when he was willing to bat second to Glenn Maxwell in the middle order, De Villiers showed that he still had much left in the tank. However, he retired from all forms of the game, leaving RCB with a huge need to fill. We may never see another De Villiers, and it’s difficult to envision RCB and the IPL without him.

Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle’s days as a top-level cricketer seem to be numbered, with him satisfied to play in T10 leagues and lower-league competitions like the Bangladesh Premier League. The West Indian is now 42 years old and has struggled to maintain the high standards he established in the IPL over the years.

Gayle, who holds numerous significant IPL records, has been associated with the league from its inception and was at his peak when playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. In IPL 2022, he will not be able to match the entertainment value and flare he brings to the table.
