Pat Cummins, the fast bowler for the Kolkata Knight Riders, has been ruled out of the rest of the IPL 2022 due to a minor hip ailment. Cummins was diagnosed after KKR’s previous match, and the severity of the injury meant that his recuperation time would have prevented him from playing any further games for the team this season.

Cummins has already left the team bubble for Sydney, where he will finish his recovery in preparation for Australia’s next trip to Sri Lanka. He should have plenty of time to recuperate after being rested from the T20I series that kicks off the full SL tour.

Cummins remarked before departing, “I had a fantastic time in India, and I’d like to express my gratitude to KKR for looking after my family and myself. I wish all of the squad members well in the next rounds of the competition. I’ll be watching and cheering on the games.”

With just two league games remaining, KKR has decided not to name a replacement.
