For the first time in six years, the Indian cricket team will go to Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series next month.

According to Zimbabwe Cricket, the three one-day internationals will be held in Harare on August 18, 20, and 22. KL Rahul is slated to serve as the captain of the Indian squad. The competition is a part of the 13-team ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, the main route for players to directly qualify for the 2019 50-over World Cup in India.

Zimbabwe is now placed 12th out of a total of 13 teams with only three wins in 15 games. The ‘Men in Blue’ last visited Zimbabwe in June-July 2016 to play three ODIs and as many T20Is under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s leadership.

India just completed their tour to England by winning both the T20I and ODI series they played there. Following a three-match ODI series against the West Indies, a youthful Indian squad captained by Shikhar Dhawan will play five T20Is that conclude on August 7.

Before the series against India, Zimbabwe will host Bangladesh for three Twenty20 games starting on July 30. Prior to the important game, they will start a three-ODI tour of Australia on August 28.
