Yastika Bhatia and Challa Jhansi Lakshmi both struck superb fifties to help India A beat India D by three wickets in the Women’s Challenger Trophy final on Thursday. India D, who entered the final as the only undefeated team in the four-team tournament, scored 219 for eight in 50 overs thanks to contributions from in-form opener S Meghana (45 off 44) and lower-order batter Amanjot Kaur (55 off 74). India under Sneh Rana’s leadership Bhatia’s 86 off 102 balls and Lakshmi’s 64 off 70 at the top of the order helped A win in 45.4 overs.

Although most of the cricketers who competed in the Women’s Big Bash League in Australia were granted respite, the competition featured numerous Indian players. Rajeshwari Gayakwad, a seasoned left-arm spinner, was impressive once again, taking four wickets for 36 runs in ten overs, albeit in a losing cause. With 10 wickets in three games, India B spinner V Chandu finished as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker. Meghana finished with the most runs with 207 at an average of 51.75. Harleen Deol, a mainstay for India in T20 cricket, had a solid performance with the bat as well, amassing 181 runs in three games.
