The Super 12s Group 2 match between India and Pakistan will take place on October 24 in Dubai as part of the men’s T20 World Cup 2021. On Tuesday, the ICC issued the tournament schedule, which confirmed the date. The opening round of the competition will begin on October 17 in Oman, with Oman facing Papua New Guinea and Bangladesh facing Scotland. The final will be held on November 14 in Dubai, with November 15 set aside as a reserve day.

In Group 2 of the Super 12 stage, New Zealand will face Afghanistan and two qualifiers from Round 1. Group 1 is made up of Australia, England, South Africa, and the West Indies, as well as two qualifiers.

The semi-finals will include the top two teams from each of the two Super 12 groups. The first will take place in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and the second in Dubai on November 11. Both semi-finals and the final will have reserve days, the same as the final.

Sri Lanka, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Namibia are in Group A, while Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and Oman are in Group B. The tournament is co-hosted by Oman and the UAE, with the first round taking place in Oman, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The second round will be held in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.

However, the focus will be on the Group 2 match between India and Pakistan in Dubai, as the two nuclear-armed neighbours have rarely met in multi-nation events due to tensions over Kashmir, a disputed Himalayan area claimed by both nuclear-armed neighbours. India and Pakistan will meet for the first time in over two years, with their last meeting occurring during the 50-over World Cup in England in 2019.

Bilateral ties between the two countries are on hold due to political issues, as they have been for many years, meaning they only play each other in multi-team tournaments like the World Cups.
