India beat Sri Lanka by 9 wickets to lift the U-19 Asia Cup title
India trounced Sri Lanka by nine wickets in the Under-19 Asia Cup final here on Friday, with Angkrish Raghuvanshi smashing a fifty and Sheikh Rasheed scoring 31*. In the midst of the pursuit, India’s aim was raised to 102 from 99. Due to the DLS technique, Sri Lanka scored 106/9 and India was assigned a target of 99 runs. In the fifth over, Harnoor Singh was plunked in front of the stumps, giving India an early setback.
Raghuvanshi and Rasheed, on the other hand, put up an undefeated 96-run partnership to help India win the summit game. Sri Lanka had chosen to bat first and got off to the worst possible start, losing two wickets for 15 runs in the 11th over. Sri Lanka’s top order failed to reach double figures, hitting only 37 runs in 20 overs. Sri Lanka was shortly reduced to 57/7 as wickets fell at regular intervals. Rain forced the match to be called off with Sri Lanka on 74/7 after 32.5 overs. The contest was trimmed to 38 overs on each side before the final restarted, as Sri Lanka scored 106/9 in the allocated overs.
