Sandeep Lamichhane, the star leg-spinner for the Hobart Hurricanes, has been re-signed for the upcoming 11th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). In the previous BBL season, Lamichhane was a member of the Hurricanes’ lineup. The youthful leggie had previously played for the Melbourne Stars for two BBL seasons, and the Hurricanes have now signed him for the 2021-22 season.

“This year, I’m looking forward to returning to Australia and playing with the Hurricanes,” Lamichhane stated. “I had a great experience with the Hurricanes last season, and I’m looking forward to being there for the entire tournament this year.”

Also all-rounder James Faulkner, who had been a staple in the Hurricane’s system, has left the team. The franchise, on the other side, has signed all-rounder Josh Kann for the season. To reinforce their attack, the Hurricanes have also signed former Perth Scorchers left-arm seamer Joel Paris.

After participating in numerous T20 competitions throughout the world, the 21-year-old spinner has established a solid reputation. Lamichhane has played in leagues such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), and Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The leg-spinner was supposed to play in the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) brainchild The Hundred earlier this year, but visa complications prevented him from playing.

Lamichhane is the only overseas player signed by the Hurricanes thus far, as BBL franchises struggle to attract international talent to Australia, with the necessary severe 14-day hotel quarantine upon arrival into the country, as well as the tournament’s length, being the main deterrents for players.
