Hayley Matthews showed interest in participating in the Women’s IPL after she helped the Barbados Royals win the first season of THE 6IXTY. The all-rounder has indicated an interest in playing for Rajasthan Royals, whose owner Manoj Badela also owns the Barbados team, with the event being set for March in 2023.

“Without a doubt, I would adore playing for the Royals. The working group at the franchise has created a great culture, and they are always extremely supportive of the females. They have made a commendable investment in women’s cricket, and I believe that making the proper investments would benefit our sport “she said in a statement made public by Barbados Royals.

“Jofra, Oshane Thomas, and Obed McCoy have made the Rajasthan Royals one of my favorite teams as well. I would thus want to remain a member of the Royals family, and I am hoping that I will be able to attend the stadiums decked up in pink for the women’s IPL next year.”

Matthews gained widespread recognition when, at the age of 18, she scored 66 runs off of 45 balls to assist the West Indies to win the Women’s T20 World Cup final in 2016. She remarked on the day as follows: “Actually, I believe it’s still a little hazy since I was so young (laughs). There was so much free will. We just walked outside and let loose. It was do-or-die and I knew it was one of those days where it could either go your way or might not, so I took my chances and it was pretty amazing in the end. It was undoubtedly one of those days that I will always remember.”

Five teams will allegedly play in the Women’s IPL, which will purportedly take place over one month.
