The Ahmedabad franchise which is owned by CVC Capital has received a green signal from the BCCI and will soon receive a letter of intent from them. The owners waited a long time to get the all-clear status from the BCCI as the company had some overseas links and investments with betting companies and it goes against the policy of the BCCI. The team has appointed Hardik Pandya as the captain for the 2022 IPL season.

An IPL source was quoted saying, “Yes, the Letter of Intent for the Ahmedabad franchise has been received. They have, however, been working on the back-end for some time because it is a lengthy process. As far as we know, Hardik has been selected as the franchise’s captain. Hardik, with his local ties and a lengthy history of IPL success with the Mumbai Indians, was an obvious choice as captain and the main player. As their second and third choices in the drought, the organisation is virtually ready to sign Afghan spin star Rashid Khan and dashing keeper-batter Ishan Kishan. Unless there are any last-minute modifications, that is what is finalised as of today. ”

The team has given the responsibility of the head coach to Ashish Nehra, who will work alongside Gary Kirsten, team mentor, and Vikram Solanki, Director of Cricket. This IPL season will give Hardik a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of BCCI selectors and everyone who doubted his form and potential.
