Gautam Gambhir supports Rohit Sharma to lead India across all formats
Gambhir has voiced his opinion regarding the change that Indian cricket is facing due to its sensitive captaincy position. He believes Rohit Sharma should be the captain of the team for all the formats. According to TOI, Gambhir says, “In my opinion, Rohit Sharma should captain India in all forms, with Rahul as his deputy. One captain across formats will provide continuity in the Indian team’s style and attitude, especially with another T20 World Cup coming up later this year. In Test matches, our bowling resources are the envy of our neighbours and the pride of our owners. They have repeatedly demonstrated that they are the engine room for a team’s effectiveness. In limited-overs cricket, I would have preferred to see a more established middle-order, which Virat was unable to produce.”
“Believe me, it’s an amazing thrill, with all the notes in their rightful spot, exactly like a brilliantly hammered left-handed cover drive with the bat terminating on his right shoulder. What a pleasure it will be to see him translate his social media persona onto the pitch. He has fantastic potential in South Africa. I’m not a big believer in aging and all that. His detractors argue that at the age of 36, Indian cricket should look beyond Shikhar Dhawan. My main concern in the Vijay Hazare Trophy is a lack of runs. I’m hoping he’ll be able to put it all behind him and put his best foot forward,” he concluded.
