The star of Team India, Virat Kohli, made a stunning return at the Asia Cup earlier this month. The former captain led the team in scoring and took second place overall in the competition, despite India being ousted in the Super 4 stages. With a remarkable strike rate of 147.59 in five games, Kohli amassed 276 runs, including a century against Afghanistan in India’s last tournament match.

He became the joint-second highest century-maker in international cricket by tying Ricky Ponting’s record (71). It had been more than three years since Kohli had scored a century. However, more than a month after his century, Ramiz Raja, the president of the Pakistan Cricket Board, made an odd comment about Kohli and Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistani squad.

The PCB chairman responded to recent criticism of the team after Pakistan’s losses in the Asia Cup final and the seven-match T20I series against England. In comparing the fan bases of the Indian and Pakistani teams, he said that Kohli’s century against Afghanistan outweighed India’s lackluster showing in the Asia Cup.

“India ought to have been severely criticized for not making it to the championship. The media and their followers, however, do not act in this manner. I’ll tell you this much: when Virat Kohli scored a century against Afghanistan, they forgot all about their Asia Cup. Will we ever execute it? Ramiz said in an interview with Samaa TV.

Ramiz’s comment drew criticism from several spectators and former Pakistani cricket players, including ex-captain Salman Butt, who called Ramiz out for his “dig” at Kohli.

There was no justification for mocking anybody. Here, no useful illustration is offered. In cricket history, he is only the second (or third) person to have scored 70 runs or more. The greatest player in the world. Beherhaal looks to be frustrated, but I don’t know. Perhaps he has news, Jo baakiyon ko kuch dino baad milegi. Rationality and grit are incompatible and untrained or bhi kayi baat ki hai. You can’t even provide examples that are pertinent; it is said. He is just the third player in cricket history with more than 70 international tonnes. He is annoyed. He could be aware of the knowledge that others won’t discover for a few days. In addition, he made a number of other absurd remarks. Butt said on his own YouTube channel that “it’s just shallow chats.”
