Following Suryakumar’s century against New Zealand, Virat Kohli sends a stunning tweet that goes viral: “This was another video game innings.”
Suryakumar Yadav demonstrated on Sunday that he is the top-ranked T20I batter in the world by continuing his brilliant form and scoring an unbeaten 111 against New Zealand at the Bay Oval. In the second T20I match of the series, Suryakumar’s knock helped India bounce back from a slow start to finish with 191 for six. Following the wicket, former India captain Virat Kohli sent the star India batter a stunning tweet that instantly went viral. (India vs. New Zealand 2nd T20 Live Score)
Suryakumar batted as if he came from another planet. Suryakumar performed well as other batters seemed to struggle and adapt to the circumstances. He left no areas on the field where he did not score a boundary, making a complete mockery of the New Zealand attack. In total, he hit seven maximums and 11 boundaries during his 51-ball innings to reach his second international century.
Following the significant strike, Kohli tweeted, “Numero Uno showcasing why he’s the greatest in the world. I missed the live broadcast, but I’m sure he pitched another video game inning. @surya 14kumar ”
Suryakumar, however, was unable to match Kohli’s record for India’s highest-ever batter score for the Men in Blue. The top score on the list is his unbeaten 122 against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup, with Suryakumar’s 111* placing fourth.
“In T20, a hundred is always special, but it was also crucial for me to bat all the way through. Hardik advised me to continue to bat through the 18th or 19th over and reach a score of around 185. We discussed going deep after the 16th over had ended. Maximizing the last few overs was crucial. “Have been repeating the same actions in the nets and it’s just working for me,” Suryakumar said following his stunning hit.
