The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) started the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a thumping six-wicket victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the season opener. After a heartbreaking loss against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the squad went on to win successive games against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians. The squad, on the other hand, has taken a step back and now finds itself in seventh place on the points table, with three victories and four losses.

But it’s Umesh Yadav’s redemption in white-ball cricket that has stood out in Kolkata. So far this season, the 34-year-old has taken 10 wickets and is the KKR bowler with the most. Former Australia and Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Brett Lee praised the Indian’s performance and predicted that he would soon grab a fifer as the competition progressed.

“This person never goes out of style. We’ve seen that so far in the IPL, he bowls with incredible control. He has terrific swing, shapes the ball both ways, and gets a little bit of seam nibbling, and he consistently takes the wicket for KKR. 2/20 versus CSK, the IPL’s first match. Gaikwad and Devon Conway were among the players he attracted. I always say that if a bowler can bowl 12 dot balls or more, they’re on the right track. He followed it up with a 2/16 performance against RCB. Rawat and Virat Kohli were caught behind again, 14 dot balls again, and then 4/23 against Punjab, Mayank Agarwal, Livingstone, Harpreet Brar, Rahul Chahar, 13 dot balls again, another man of the match. Umesh Yadav is on fire right now, and I believe a fifer is on the way “Lee mentioned this in a video on Brett Lee TV.
