Faf du Plessis, a former South African captain, lavished accolades on Kohli, the captain, praising him with ushering in a sea shift in Indian cricket.

Virat Kohli, the former India captain, was a crucial figure in the transformation of Indian cricket during his tenure as captain. India emerged into one of the best Test teams in cricket history, earning parallels to the Windies of the 1970s and 1980s and the indomitable Australian side under Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting, despite not winning an ICC trophy.

Faf stated that he saw the transformation while playing international cricket and leading the South African squad, adding that he had never seen an Indian team like that before.

“Virat is important not just for the RCB but also for international cricket. He is regarded as one of the game’s most powerful figures. His record as a cricket player is unquestionably one. Of the best. I have a lot of respect for what he’s done with the bat, but also from a leadership standpoint,” he remarked at the RCB Unbox event on Saturday, when he was chosen the new captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team for the 2022 Indian Premier League season (IPL).
