Dinesh Karthik, 36, has once again shown that age is only a number. The veteran India wicketkeeper-batter has been included to the T20I team for the upcoming home series against South Africa, after a stellar performance in the current 2022 Indian Premier League. Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan praised Karthik’s comeback to the Indian squad after the huge news.

Karthik last represented India in any format at the 2019 World Cup. With the selectors looking for youthful talent, he slipped out of contention for a position in the limited-overs squad. Karthik continued to go under the radar with brief appearances in IPL seasons until returning in 2022 and scoring over 200 runs with a strike rate of over 190.

“You deserve this India call-up, Dinesh Karthick brother.” Congratulations on your India call. “A fantastic tale about never giving up hope!” Pathan used Twitter.

“Very happy, very satisfied… “Most people had given up on me,” Karthik stated in a video uploaded by RCB on Twitter. “For me to come back and do what I did, practice the way I did with my coach (Abhishek) Nayar, everything that occurred before the auction, and how I practiced thereafter… In many ways, I’m obliged to RCB for choosing me and giving me that position, trusting in me, and then me going out here and doing my hardest for this team RCB. Overall, a really nice feeling… Overall, I’m quite enthusiastic.”
