Marcus Stoinis, an all-rounder for Australia, will miss the third and final one-day match against New Zealand in Cairns on Sunday due to a side strain, while opener David Warner has been given a day off, the host team said on Saturday.

Prior to the team’s visit to India later this month, Stoinis, who had suffered a “low-level side injury,” will get rehabilitation in Perth. Nathan Ellis has been added to the lineup as Australia looks to defeat its trans-Tasman rivals 3-0.

According to a statement from the team, “David Warner has been removed from the squad given a significant schedule over the next 12 months and the series being secured.” Aaron Finch, the captain of Australia’s white-ball team, will retire after Sunday’s match in Cairns.
