Deepak Hooda, an all-rounder for India, finished off a great trip to Ireland for the two-match T20I series by scoring a series-high century in the second game on Tuesday in Dublin. With his strike, Hooda joined T20I greats Suresh Raina, KL Rahul, and Rohit Sharma on an exclusive list. Hooda, who entered the game at No. 3 in the third over after Ishan Kishan was dismissed, hit nine boundaries and six sixes on his way to his 104 run off 57 deliveries and his first T20I century.

With the victory, Rohit, who has four such scores to his credit; Rahul, who has two hundred to his name; and Raina, Hooda became the fourth Indian hitter to register a century in the format. After Rohit and Rahul, Hooda became the third Indian batsman to reach a century in the format away from home, and his 104 against Ireland is currently the greatest individual score by an Indian batsman, surpassing Rohit’s 97.

Sanju Samson, who returned to the India XI and scored a career-best number of 77, formed a record-breaking partnership with Hooda along the way. The duo recorded a 176-run stand for the second wicket off 65 deliveries, beating Rohit and Rahul’s previous record of 165 against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017 to become the greatest partnership run by an India combination for any wicket in the format.

The team’s final score of 227 for seven, which Hooda and Samson contributed to, is the second-highest in T20I cricket by India after their total of 244 for four against the West Indies at Lauderhill in 2016.
